African rumba, based on the clave family of rhythms, is most closely associated with the Congo basin area of Central Africa. However, rumba music has also flourished in distinct regional forms in both East and West Africa. In Nairobi, Kenyan, Tanzanian and Congolese musicians came together to create Kenyan rumba some of the finest dance music on the continent. The Golden Sounds Band carries forth the rumba tradition with their simple melodies, complex vocal harmonies, luscious interlocking guitars, and rich saxophone ornamentation and solos.
